From Past To Present

Founded in 1950 on the shores of Lake Erie, Ohio, The Grand River Kennel Club has been proudly hosting the Regatta Classic Dog Show for over 70 years. In honour of our prestigous heritage we are delighted to share our story though photographs from past to present.

A Letter From The Club President:

"As president of the Grand River Kennel Club, I believe one of my duties is to preserve the heritage of the club. A kennel club whose history is ravaged by the injuries of time will lose its identity. The desire of new members to be interested in joining is diminished. The membership itself needs to reminded and educated as to the importance to preserve the heritage of the organization to which they belong.

Furthermore, for the sport of pure bred dogs, it is important to preserve the heritage so others will not forget the importance and contributions of others who came before us. This is vital since history not preserved is history lost.

I have the overwhelming task of preserving the pictorial history of the Grand River Kennel Club. Therefore, I have been cataloging our show history from the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, 2010's, and 2020's.

It is interesting to see the evolution of our breeds, the pictures of our judges still with us and deceased, and the styles of dress throughout the decades."
